的意思是防洪閘門，天降大雨如洩洪，勢頭猛進，無法阻擋，就像咆哮的河流一樣吞沒一切（a roaring river swallowing everything）。
接著用比較形象的說法，一年的雨這三天都下完了，注意用的動詞是Received，另外一年的降雨量的英文是
a year’s worth of rain
，這種表達可以無限擴充套件，比如一年的牛奶今天都喝完了Drink a year‘s worth of milk in a single day。
大片土地被淹沒的英文large swathes of land submerged ，swathe指一長條土地。

In chest-deep water
指胸部深的水，這個表達也可以擴充套件，比如knee-deep snow，這裡要注意點是短橫線後面的詞語是Deep。
