天池山風景名勝區-天池山國家森林公園位於河南嵩縣西北部，北距古都洛陽僅98公里，伏牛山世界地質公園-千里伏牛山脈北側，4萬畝的景區內棲息和生長著野生動物184種，植物1800餘種，森林覆蓋率高達98。57%，年平均降水量812毫米，年最高氣溫28攝氏度，主峰王莽寨海拔1859。6米，景區道路平緩，舒適安全，便於遊覽，是中原大地一處風格獨特的旅遊勝地。

景區內山間層巒疊嶂，峽谷深澗，森林茂盛，綠蔭如蓋，石潔如洗，水清如濾，有以天池、玉女溪、二郎溝、飛瀑為代表的瀑潭景觀；以飛來石、石鷹、青石峽、群乳峰、玉兔峰為代表的險峰奇石景觀；以原始森林、杜鵑、水杉、落葉松為代 表的森林景觀，以春杜鵑、夏牡丹、秋紅葉、冬霧松為代表的物候景觀，以王莽攆劉秀時在此作戰屯兵的大寨、小寨遺址、唐朝佛寺以及春秋戰國時期的韓王墓為代表的人文景觀。
