石頭部落原名石場村，位於嵩縣九店鄉北部，因村中房屋及生產生活用品多為山石所制而得現名，近年來，因其獨特的村落景觀、渾樸的自然風光而漸成當地一張閃亮的旅遊名片。

石頭部落位於九店鄉北部。在前往該村的路上，映入眼簾的是連綿的石山、裸露的岩層以及大片的草地。

村子依山而建，層層升高，道路成環形縱橫交錯，步道均以青石鋪就。全村四街七巷十八衚衕，街倚房連，房與街齊，規劃有序，參差呼應。明洪武年間，有柴起龍、柴起鳳兄弟二人帶領全家由山西洪洞縣遷至此處，經不斷繁衍，漸成村落。因此地出產青石，故名石場村。

村落中現存最古老建築為保安樓，始建於清朝咸豐年間，為柴姓人經十三代人的努力而興建的大型兩層石木結構民居。當時，保安樓有房屋36間，設施完善，有防火池、地下排水系統、儲物間、臥室、廚房、衛生間、騾馬房、糧倉、彈藥庫等。保安樓現有上房6間、偏房8間、地下室4間、石窯4間、崗樓1間，共計23間房屋。

石頭部落現有村民40多戶285人。之前，由於該村居於深山，資訊閉塞且耕地稀少貧瘠，村民多外出務工，收入有限。2003年前後，陸續有驢友來到這裡。該村獨特的村落景觀、渾樸的自然風光以及淳樸的民風讓驢友印象深刻。經口口相傳，石場村也在驢友圈中小有名氣，並被他們稱為石頭部落。
